Paks II. simulator instructors successfully passed their exams at the end of their training in Russia. They will train the operating personnel of the new nuclear power plant.

The four thousand-hour training of Hungarian simulator instructors in Russia has ended, of which the theoretical part took place at the Rosatom Technical Academy. The specialists gained practical experience on the multifunctional simulator of the academy’s St. Petersburg branch and on the site of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant II. Each course was followed by an intermediate evaluation and at the end of the program – on June 26 – they successfully passed a final exam.
The training program started in 2022 within the framework of the contracts for Paks II. project. The simulator instructors will train Paks II. NPP operating personnel, participate in the compilation of the educational program and curriculum, but their preparation is not over yet: in the future, further Paks II. specific trainings and retraining await them.
– While our colleagues were studying in Russia, the construction of the Training Centre has also begun. Anyone who comes to the construction site today can see that work is in full swing in both excavation pits – said Krisztián Szarvas, Deputy CEO of Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. He added: the instructors will play a significant role in ensuring that the right specialists are available at the right time for commissioning and operation.
– The instructors have a great responsibility. They establish the mindset and approach of the power plant personnel, they serve as an example. They must not only pass on the necessary knowledge and technical skills, but also the basic principles of safety culture and the company’s values – emphasized Áron Benedek, HR Director of Paks II. Ltd.
– Training our own instructors is key to creating the future operational management organization of Paks II. NPP. Specialists trained at the Rosatom Technical Academy have already acquired competencies that will be needed at all stages of the commissioning of the power plant units – said Vitaly Polyanin, Vice-President of Atomstroyexport and Director of Paks II. Project.
