Off-site electrical engineering training starts in Paks
At the initiative of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. and Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Private Limited Company, after one and a half years of preparatory work, the electrical engineering training program will start in Paks this September. The theoretical professional basis is provided by the University of Pécs (PTE) and the Energy Technical College and Dormitory (ESZI), which serves as the location of the education.
PTE, whose Faculty of Engineering and Informatics (MIK) has been offering electrical engineering education for fifty years, is launching an off-site department for the first time. Dean Dr. Gabriella Medvegy said at the press conference held on this occasion that they had high hopes for the new dual training program, for which Paks would be an excellent location due to the presence of the nuclear power plant.
The Paks training will be on a par with the Pécs training, which, in addition to the strong theory at the university, is also strengthened by the practice-oriented approach provided by the Paks partner companies, said Dr. Zoltán Kvasznicza, head of the outsourced training at PTE MIK.
– We need to find common solutions to certain challenges, such as the issue of professional recruitment – Áron Benedek introduced the details of the cooperation. The human resources director of Paks II. Ltd. highlighted that there were serious prospects for those who pursued a technical career, since Paks Nuclear Power Plant is preparing for a twenty-year operating lifetime extension, and Paks II. for at least sixty years of operation. – This is the first step, but it is no secret that we have ambitious goals, we would like to start full-time education and we are also examining which majors may serve the goals of the two companies – he informed.
Dr. Antal Kovács, communications director of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. emphasized that they were primarily counting on young people studying at ESZI and living in the region, who would have a long career ahead of them if they obtain an engineering degree. – The future of nuclear energy seems to be assured until the end of the century. Anyone who invests their energy in energetics, including this training, will have a predictable, secure, and interesting career ahead of them – he emphasized. The nuclear power plant provides professional and financial support to students and organizes an open day for those interested.
The dual training will start in September as part of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics of the University of Pécs, in the correspondence department. You can apply for the training through the regular admission procedure until February 15, through a supplementary information sheet that will be posted on felvi.hu soon. For those interested in the training, Paks Nuclear Power Plant will organize an open day on 4 February, during which participants will visit special locations in the electrical field and ask questions to experts who know the field well.
