Nucleareurope: Hungary is an excellent example
The data on the Hungarian electricity system are very impressive – said Emmanuel Brutin, the director general of nucleareurope during his visit to Paks. The head of the association which brings the European nuclear industry representatives together recalled that last year 71.5% of the electricity produced in Hungary was carbon-free, about three quarters of which was produced at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant.
The director general also spoke in Paks about their desire to make nuclear investments attractive to industrial players, for which adequate financing is essential. In his opinion European regulations are needed that support not only renewable but also low-carbon sources.
He also mentioned that, thanks to the nuclear renaissance experienced in recent years power plant investments would provide jobs for many people, but at the same time meeting the demand for specialists was also a challenge, as in addition to servicing new nuclear projects, those retiring must also be replaced.
